Annapolis, MD - With a flourish of his pen, Governor Larry Hogan today signed the milestone Near Completers and Maryland Community College Promise Scholarships bill (HB 16), which allocates $15 million per year in need-based tuition aid for eligible community college students. Senate President Thomas V. “Mike” Miller and Speaker of the House Michael Busch joined Governor Hogan to sign the legislation that passed during the final ten minutes of the 2018 Maryland General Assembly session. The governor and presiding officers were joined by the bill’s lead sponsor, Delegate Frank S. Turner of Howard County, numerous other elected officials, presidents of several Maryland community colleges, and staff from the Maryland Association of Community Colleges (MACC).
Harford Community College Radio, 91.1 WHFC-FM, Bel Air’s public radio station, will begin airing the classic jazz and pop radio program “Simply Timeless” on Monday nights from 9 PM until midnight, beginning May 7.
“Simply Timeless” is a weekly radio broadcast featuring the best in classic jazz and pop. The show is hosted by pianist and vocalist Jay Daniels. Featured artists include Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Beegie Adair, Harry Connick, Jr., and others.
Just over one year ago, Daniels was given the opportunity to bring his unique blend of classic jazz and pop to the radio for the first time when the first three-hour broadcast of “Simply Timeless” aired in Greencastle, PA on WRGG. Several months later, the show added two affiliates – WXZY-LP 101.7 in Kane, Pennsylvania, and the former WJZF-LP 97.1 in Standish, Maine. The audience has continued to grow over the past year as many new affiliates were added including WCSK 90.3 in Kingsport, Tennessee; WEZU-LP 95.9 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; WHFC 91.1 in Bel Air, Maryland; and three jazz internet radio streams – Metromedia Radio, Pure Jazz Radio, and The Jazz UK. “Simply Timeless” is also pleased to announce that the program will be heard in Perth, Australia, beginning on May 6, as 87.8 Magic FM joins the growing family of radio affiliates.
WHFC-FM broadcasts commercial-free, local and national music and talk programs from the campus of Harford Community College in Bel Air. WHFC broadcasts to all of Harford County, plus portions of Baltimore, Cecil, York, Lancaster, Chester, Kent and Queen Anne’s counties.
